Launch Events
Each year, we host a launch for the newest volume of the Review. We have hosted a number of guests who have delivered passionate speeches about Irish politics and society. Recent guests have included Senator David Norris, former Senator Averil Power, and Foreign Correspondent of the Irish Times, Patrick Smyth. Be sure to check out our launch of the next volume!
Launch of the 33rd Edition
The launch of Volume XXXIII was held on April 4th, 2023. We were joined by guest speakers Senator Lynn Ruane and Prof. Emeritus Stephen Mennell.
We hosted online events during the pandemic which were thoroughly enjoyable, like the launch of Volume XXXI which featured Senator Lynn Ruane and Dr. Páraic Kerrigan as our guest speakers.
Other Events
The SPR is also committed to hosting events that shed light on the political and social issues in Ireland.
Recently, these events have included a Panel Discussion on the topic 'Changing Ireland; Shaping our Future' with guest speakers including Professor Gerard Whyte, Associate Professor of Law and Fellow, Trinity College Dublin, Ms. Noelle O'Connell, Executive Director of European Movement Ireland, Mr. Michael Barron, Executive Director and Co-Founder of BeLonG To, and Mr. Brian Whiteside, Director of Ceremonies, Humanist Association of Ireland. We have also co-hosted a debate with The Phil entitled “This House Believes that Terrorism can be Rational”, ran writing workshops, and honored guests such as the Hon. Jane Harman, CEO and President of the Wilson Centre in Washington D.C in 2017.
